I get the impression that some people are surprised by how hard parenting is, but also, the standard narrative is "it's hard but amazing, and anyone who doesn't do it is missing out because the hard parts are so very worth it". Another reason someone could regret it (aside from it being harder than expected) is it not being as amazing as expected.
